After Effects of Lockdown In India
Lockdown is coming to an end throughout India. But we are seeing that many states are extending lockdown on their own. What we need to understand is that why in this epidemic, lockdown has become a great deal and a heated topic of debate not only in our country but in the whole world. We also need to see what will happen when this lockdown gets lifted, its effects and consequences. In order to understand all this we need to look how effective lockdown has been till now. So, let's talk about lockdown and its effects and after effects.
Lockdown is one of the solutions adopted worldwide to curb the spread of virus from human to human transmission. Every country which implemented the lockdown has seen positive effects in controlling the spread of virus. In India, we have a population of 1.3 billion people and we can't afford a community transmission which would have devastating effect to an extent none can imagine. Lockdown may be the best possible option right now but it does come with a cost of country's economy and loss of livelihood. So, if there's a choice to either die due to this virus or due to hunger, the person rather chooses none. How are we suppose to maintain a balance after lifting the lockdown? Let's find out.
By the time this lockdown is lifted, we could have lost a lot of things starting with jobs, business, services, major trade relations, studies, future of many government job aspirants. Our major private sectors like automobiles, aviation industry, tourism, restaurants, hotels, film industry, real estate, electronic systems, mining etc. will be worst affected. Exhausted healthcare system, police and government administration. People fearful of interaction with others. It will leave a mental trauma on everyone which will take a long time to shake. We need to focus on how we have to start our lives once the lockdown is lifted because we can't continue with our care free routine till we have complete control on this pandemic.
As the nationwide lockdown is over and we have successfully controlled the spread of community transmission, now we need to focus only on the hotspots of this disease because it will be impractical to lockdown those areas which are completely free of this. Question arises, should we simply begin the normal life and give all the freedom like before? the answer is a big No! but we can lift the lockdown by imposing minimal restriction till there is a vaccine available, also side by side strengthening our healthcare system.
So as a citizen we have some responsibilities to uphold when the relaxation will be provided by the government. We need to ensure social distancing and strict hygienic routine as per the WHO guidelines, limiting social gatherings, avoiding crowded places and unnecessary travelling. We need to carefully examine people who are ill around us and if found with any symptoms must be reported to helpline numbers provided. Also, we should cooperate with our government staff, healthcare personnel, police personnel and army personnel who are performing their duties in the high-risk environment. Last but not the least we need to have patience and hope till we all get success in overcoming this pandemic.
